Aikido is a Budo (Martial Art) founded by the Morihei Ueshiba (1883 - 1969) also know as O'sensei (Great Teacher)
O'sensei was already an accomplished martial artist having studied traditional weapons and various martial arts and held a teaching certificate in Daito Ryu Jujutsu.
By combining his martial training with his religious and political ideologies, Ueshiba created the modern martial art of aikido.
